Another Journey By Train...
I wrote this on the train on Tuesday, on my way to see The Cure at the Royal Albert Hall, London...
It's a beautiful autumn afternoon. Hazy sunshine creates a golden glow in the sky and warms the damp earth below, such that a soft mist rises upwards, creating an ethereal, dreamlike atmosphere.
The countryside rushes by; a blur of green fields and blazing autumn leaves; framed by skeleton-like bare branches stretching upwards into the neverending sky.
Day gradually turns to night, and the background hum of voices quietens and eventually fades out, as people become lost in thought.
The train rumbles and sways onwards rhythmically, and in a rather reassuring way. It's almost like a lullaby, soothing us all to sleep...
Eventually we reach our destination and tumble out of the train, scattering in every direction, like a confused colony of ants...

Purple...
“When I am an old woman I shall wear purple, With a red hat which doesn't go and doesn't suit me, And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves, And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter” | |

Strange happenings... 11.11.11
I spotted these balloons^ on the beach when I was walking to work yesterday...
and when I arrived at work this morning, this was outside my office (below)

One of my clients asked if it was my birthday, as they had spotted the balloons outside - well it isn't my birthday, but today would have been my Grannie's 100th birthday...
It seems significant at the moment as I found a white feather yesterday, today is 11.11.11 and I wrote the following poem around the time she died...
(an unexpected white feather is said to be a sign of a visit from an angel)
This morning...
Seagulls glide through lifeless grey sky, screeching like fishwives,
as they mirror the white-capped ripples relentlessly clinging to dull grey sea...

This evening...
Street Spirit...
The last traces of daylight clung to the streetlights in the alleyway,
desperate to not fade out...
Pavement...
The spray paint man hovers in a two dimesional world on the promenade by the sea;
just a few feet away from where the air-sea rescue took place,
last week...
This afternoon...
A pair of wagtails wade round the edge of a muddy puddle,
accompanied by the sound of waves lapping against the wall...

The Writing on the Wall...
The second photo is where the Get Carter car park used to be...
I'm loving the lomo-effect function on my new phone - some people hate it, but I like it - mainly because although I love, love, love my analogue cameras, I feel uneasy about using film now because apparently gelatine is used, and that doesn't fit in with my vegan ethics. Digital cameras bypass the use of film, so that is a plus, although nothing can beat the anticipation of collecting a film that has just been developed... again, that links in nicely with the blog I've just written on my other site, where I look at the fact that nowadays we expect things instantly, rather than waiting patiently...
Digital cameras v analogue?? hmm... 'Perfection' v 'imperfection'?? ...
Sometimes (often?) old, vintage, mistakes and imperfections win hands down, and are well worth waiting for...
(but on the other hand, that doesn't resolve the gelatine issue...) hmm...
Anyway, I'll stop rambling as it is evidently time for bed now...
8 days a week...
I could do with finding an extra day a week from somewhere, as I just don't seem to have enough hours in a day at the moment... (or maybe I just need to drastically improve my time management skills, & also reduce the time I spend being distracted by things on the internet!... ) I've just updated my other blog (http://abcounselling.blogspot.com/) and thought I would do a quick post here too, as I've got photos bursting at the seams of my laptop that I need to sort out, so I thought I'd pop a couple or so on here...
I've had a good few days - went to two different sessions at the Sage as part of the 'free thinking festival' on Saturday, and finally got round to trying out Bob Trollop's, a veggie/vegan pub on the Quayside, too. We were impressed (me & Iona). I'll maybe write more about the Sage things if I find time at some point in the future...Sunday was a beautiful bright & sunny but cold day, so I went for a wander round Tynemouth.
Monday brought the first frost of this autumn, and again I took myself off for another little wander - this time at the Rising Sun. All in all, I'm feeling really satisfied and content with life at the moment and all it has to offer...

Testing times
I'm just trying to get to grips with my new piece of technology! If this works I'll be amazed! I'll have taken a photo on my phone and then put it in a blog; all via phone! Ok, I'll see if it has worked...

Red light...
It's a gorgeous day today - bright blue sky and blazing autumn leaves! I'm desperate to get out for a walk where I can crunch in the leaves and take some photos, and maybe actually start writing again... Today though I had to make do with admiring the world mainly from my car window... (although I did have a close encounter with one of the infamous 'civic centre bunnies' in the car park; we were literally just a couple of feet away from each other! : )
Here's a photo (of leaves; - sadly not of the afore-mentioned bunny!)...

Rockin' Robin...
I took these photos on my walk this morning... the little robin was singing his little heart out!...
Happy Halloween!...
When witches go riding,
and black cats are seen,
the moon laughs and whispers,
‘tis near Halloween.

Swallow Pond...
I had a nice wander round the Rising Sun park this morning. It was cold and damp, but the light was lovely at that time of day. The sky in the distance was pale pink and there was an early morning mistiness which added a feeling of mystery to the scene... I had hoped to catch a glimpse of the resident stag, but I wasn't lucky enough on this occassion. I was more than happy to see a bunny, a kestrel and some blue tits though. And I fed carrots to some bewildered horses. It was a very pleasant way to start the day!...
